Wider Museum Community

Renaissance in the Regions, through the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum, funded and coordinated a range of partnership opportunities for museums in the Dorset, South Somerset and South Wiltshire area during 2008 -09.

This work delivered the Renaissance vision to put users at the heart of our museum services.

Renaissance in the Regions, through the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum, also offered 13 bursaries for the Museums Association Conference 2009.

Additional funding was used to

 

  • Support Dorset Museums Association to develop website and branding.
  • Work in partnership with sub-regional museums to develop a Collections Strategy for Dorset
  • Fund a pilot project for Dorset County Museum and Dorset History Centre to work with adults with mental illness.
  • Enable the MDO to purchase postcode analysis software to inform audience development work.
     
     

 


The training has been identified and developed in consultation with museum development officers, Dorset museums, MLASW, Dorset Museums Association and the South Western Federation of Museums & Galleries.
