A-Z A Hand Book - 28 January 2009

New exhibition of meaningful mosaics by Cleo Mussi opens at Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum on 10th February

A-Z A Hand Book

10 February - 9 August 2009

A new exhibition, A-Z A Hand Book, opens at Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum, Bournemouth, on Tuesday 10th February, with free entry. A-Z A Hand Book is an exhibition of meaningful mosaic images by acclaimed artist Cleo Mussi.

Accessible to all ages, Cleo Mussi’s mosaic work is a beautiful patchwork of different ceramic styles, forms and colours. An alphabet of images, pieces are presented in a traditional A-Z format and each one is complemented by an inspiring text by writer and psychologist, Paul Patterson. Each piece features mosaic hands worked in to the image. The exhibition is accompanied by a beautiful printed ‘hand book’.

A quiet moment of contemplation with any of these works and they begin to share some of their subtle secrets – themes of loss, love, divinity, fear and retribution – the world of fairy tale. This is why Cleo is probably the leading exponent of mosaic art and why everyone should spend some quiet time alone with her work. The exhibition pieces will be available for purchase. Prices for original pieces start at £105.00. The hand book costs £12.00.

A-Z A Hand Book opens on Tuesday 10th February 2009 and is open daily 10am - 5pm Tuesday - Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays (closed Good Friday & Christmas Day) until 9th August, at Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum, Russell-Cotes Road, East Cliff, Bournemouth, BH1 3AA. Entrance on East Cliff Promenade. T: +44 (0)1202 451 858. www.russell-cotes.bournemouth.gov.uk
