Dorset jeweller creates collection based on Russell-Cotes

Dorset jeweller Kathryn Arbon was delighted to rise to the challenge when invited to create a special limited edition range of jewellery based on Bournemouth’s quirky Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum. Her Russell-Cotes range includes handmade silver swallow jewellery and anodised aluminium pieces.

The range is now on sale at the museum, priced from £6.00 to £42.50. Income from sales goes towards to the conservation and development of the museum as part of its new income generation strategy.

Dorset-based Kathryn has worked alongside goldsmiths in the south of England throughout her career to extend her skills. Her Russell-Cotes jewellery collection includes pieces made using her latest method of anodised aluminium in which she hand paints individual sheets of metal ensuring exclusivity and individuality of each piece. The metal is specially hand-dyed and printed allowing an array of patterns to be sealed into the metal. This range includes chunky bracelets, earrings and key fobs.

Kathryn’s range of hand-crafted silver swallow jewellery is directly inspired by the swallow motifs that run throughout East Cliff Hall (the museum's historic house). The silver swallow range includes brooch, pendant on silver chain and earrings.

Kathryn said, “I often visit the museum with my two daughters, aged seven and ten. I’m  thrilled to have been able to create work based on the museum – it’s such a rich source of inspiration!”

Kathryn Arbon works from her riverside studio at Walford Mill Crafts, a converted 18th Century watermill in Dorset.
